As many may already know, freestyle skier Sarah Burke passed away today from injuries suffered in a crash in Park City.
I've followed Sarah since she first burst onto the freeskiing scene and she was truly a pioneer. Competing with the men until she forged the way for women's competition, she was one who was really progressing the sport. Amazing talent, glowing personality and stunning beauty, she had all she needed for tremendous success. She was responsible for half pipe skiing being included in the Olympics.
While there will certainly be discussions on how dangerous action sports are Sarah Burke was one of the few who transcends her sport and truly became an icon.
