Should I get a coach?

My first race is coming up on April 24th. East Canyon Road Race. This will be a tough one for me. I'm no where near any kind of peak, so my goal is really not to get dropped on the first climb.

The race starts rather mildly, around East Canyon Reservoir. However, there's a short, steep section that come up quickly. It was hear that I lost touch as a Cat 5 2 years ago. It was my second race start of the year. I spent the rest of the race by myself trying hard to just finish.

I would hope I'm in much better condition this time around. I didn't race this race last year, but I am really looking forward to this one. Really just to gauge myself. I went out with the team on Saturday and did some laps around a loop that includes and very steep section. Of course the strong climbers pulled away. It left me a but frustrated but I felt ok. I managed to ride a nice pace back home and total mileage for the day was 50.

Here's my frustration though. With the time I have available to me to train, I feel like I'm taking every advantage I can. I'm 177 lbs, the lightest I've been since getting on the bike 4 years ago. But my climbing is still a glaring weak spot. In Utah, there's really only a handful of road races that don't include some significant climbing. Do I go back to some more leg work outs? Or should I get a coach?

That last question is a tough one. I've already blown my cycling budget way out of the water this year. I had some expenses that ate up any extra I may have had to hire a coach. But there's a local Cat 1 racer that I greatly respect that has offered his services for a very reasonable fee. Do you guys think its worth it? What experiences do you have with coaching?
